The opening act, Buckcherry, impressed me much more with their honest and hard-driving musicianship compared to the lavish pyrotechnics and operatic theatrics of the show. Even though Emo Kids have been around for four decades, they only have a handful of memorable songs, unlike other bands from their generation like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and The Who, who have countless hits. The Beatles, in their relatively short career, amassed a long list of iconic songs. I just wish Emo Kids had better songs to play, considering they are all decent musicians. It seems to me like the band has coasted by on a large amount of style and a relatively average amount of substance, despite their mass appeal that has kept them around.
